Accessibility on this site: what we tested, and what we did not.

What we are aiming at

theoneeyefarmer.com is built to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is the standard the Americans with Disabilities Act is read against in practice, and it is the one we hold every site we build to, our own included.

Where we actually stand

This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means most of the standard is met and we are telling you plainly that we have not proved all of it.

On 19 September 2026 we ran an automated axe-core audit across all 4 pages of this site at four viewport widths, 320, 390, 768 and 1400 pixels, with every rule enabled, including the sixteen axe leaves switched off by default. Among those sixteen is target size, WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.5.8, which a default run skips silently. That is 16 page and width combinations, and the result was zero violations at Level A and Level AA. Each page was also measured for horizontal scrolling at 320 pixels and there is none. We are naming the widths because our previous statement reported a single 1280 by 900 run, which could not have exercised 2.5.8 at all.

Three rules do still flag and we would rather name them than quietly run a narrower test. color-contrast-enhanced measures text against the 7:1 ratio required at Level AAA; this site targets Level AA, where the requirement is 4.5:1, and every text and interface colour meets it. heading-order flags the “On this page” label in the footer, which is marked up a level below the heading above it. region flags the advertisement disclosure strip, which sits outside the main landmark by design so that it is announced before the content it applies to. None of the three is a Level A or AA failure.

We are not going to let that number say more than it can. Automated testing catches somewhere around a third to a half of real accessibility barriers. It does not judge whether a keyboard journey makes sense, whether a screen reader announces things in a useful order, whether copy is readable under cognitive load, or whether an image carries meaning its alt text leaves out. No full manual audit and no audit with assistive technology in the hands of a disabled user has been carried out on this site. Until one has, "partially conformant" is the honest description and we will not upgrade it.

What is built in

• A skip link to the main content as the first focusable element on every page.
• One h1 per page and headings that descend in order, so a screen reader's outline matches the page.
• Visible focus on every interactive element, and no keyboard trap anywhere.
• Text contrast at 4.5:1 or better, and interactive targets at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels.
• Meaning never carried by colour alone.
• Images carry alt text, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technology rather than described.
• The page works at 400 percent zoom and down to a 320 pixel viewport without horizontal scrolling.
• Animation respects prefers-reduced-motion.

Forms on this site

Every form control has a visible label that is programmatically associated with its input. Errors are announced in text, not by colour alone, and an invalid field is linked to the sentence explaining why it is invalid so a screen reader reads the reason and not only the fact. A form cannot be submitted without JavaScript, because the spam check requires it; where that blocks you, call or text 954-952-3611 or email alexalligan@suncoastdigital.us and a person will take the same request by hand.

Known limitations on this site

• The comparison is a table of text. Every cell is readable as text and none of the comparison depends on colour, an icon or a graphic to be understood.
• The page is long and single-scroll. The in-page contents list at the top is keyboard reachable and every heading it points at is a real heading, so a screen reader can jump between sections rather than reading straight through.
• Third party content we do not control: the typefaces load from Google Fonts. If that request fails the page falls back to a system font stack and stays fully readable.

What this site is built with

Static HTML, CSS and a small amount of JavaScript, relying on HTML, CSS, JavaScript and WAI ARIA. Built to work in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox with a screen reader, and the content is readable with JavaScript switched off.
